Hajj Burhanuddin Maajid, Jakarta – The national survey agency, Indopol Survey, recorded a 59.75 percent level of public satisfaction with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. Although the majority of respondents still expressed satisfaction, the agency found a tendency for a decline compared to the survey results conducted several months earlier.

The Executive Director of Indopol Survey, Ratno Sulistiyanto, stated that the decrease in the satisfaction level is mainly influenced by the economic issues still felt by the public. "Based on our data, compared to several survey findings about four months ago, this figure tends to decrease," he said in presenting the survey results on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Of the respondents who expressed dissatisfaction with Prabowo's performance, 34.14 percent mentioned the increase in the prices of basic necessities as the main reason. Other factors that also contributed are the minimal addition of job opportunities and high unemployment, especially among young people, mentioned by 15.76 percent of the respondents.

Meanwhile, 6.46 percent of the respondents assessed that the government's economic policies prioritize the interests of entrepreneurs over the public. While 5.85 percent of the respondents mentioned the unchanged improvement of family economic conditions as their reason for dissatisfaction.

The survey also noted that 48.21 percent of the respondents assessed the national economic conditions to be just average. Only 16.1 percent assessed the national economic conditions to be good, while 35.69 percent stated that the current economic conditions are poor.

At the household level, almost half of the respondents, or 49.51 percent, indicated that their family's economic conditions have not changed compared to a year ago. Some other respondents assessed that the household economic conditions have worsened.

The majority of respondents also admitted to feeling the impact of the weakening of the exchange rate of the rupiah on their economic conditions. 18.21 percent stated that the impact is significant, while 30.65 percent assessed that the rupiah's weakening has quite an influence on the household economic conditions.

Similar findings emerged regarding the issue of the increase in the price of fuel or BBM. 53.5 percent of respondents admitted that the increase in the price of BBM has significantly affected their economy. The survey also indicated that 77.8 percent of the respondents disagreed with increasing the price of BBM.

An economic observer, Yanuar Rizky, assessed that the survey results indicate that economic issues still remain the main determinant of public perception of the government. According to him, the government's policy of subsidizing the price of BBM is not sufficient to address public unease.

"The biggest disappointment of the public actually comes from the increase in the prices of basic necessities. It means that just holding the price of BBM is not enough," said Yanuar.

He stated that the increase in the prices of basic necessities indicates the existence of other cost structures outside of the price of BBM that the government cannot fully control. The weakening of the rupiah's exchange rate, he said, has the potential to increase production costs and ultimately affect the prices of goods and the creation of job opportunities.

Aside from the level of satisfaction with President Prabowo, the survey also noted that the level of public trust in the central government stands at 49 percent. As for the assessment of the overall performance of the government, 51.06 percent of respondents believed that the government is operating as expected, while 48.95 percent believed that the government's performance is still below expectations.

The survey, conducted on 1,230 respondents in 38 provinces, was held from May 26 to June 1, 2026. The survey used the multistage random sampling method with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
