Chairul Fikri, Jakarta – A poll by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) indicates that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's approval rating has improved by six points in the past three months.

The latest survey, conducted on December 3-5, found 76 percent of respondents approve of President Jokowi's job, compared to 21.5 percent who disapprove. The remaining 2.5 percent of respondents had no opinion of the president's performance.

Those who praised the Jokowi government for its social assistance program targeting the poor and the vulnerable group of the population reached 33.4 percent, according to LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan.

"Additionally, 24.9 percent of respondents said they are satisfied with the results of the massive infrastructure development initiated by the cabinet of President Jokowi, 18.3 percent cited his concrete programs, and 10 percent described him as a populist and decent leader," Djayadi told a news conference in Jakarta on Sunday.

"President Jokowi's approval rating improved compared to our previous poll in October," he added.

But the latest result is still below the president's highest approval rating of 82 percent from the LSI survey in July.

The LSI poll involved 1,425 respondents in 34 provinces, with a margin of error of 2.6 percentage points.

The result is almost identical to a survey conducted by another pollster, Indikator Politik Indonesia, which on Saturday put the president's approval rating at 76.2 percent.
