Jakarta – A survey commissioned by Charta Politika on Thursday revealed that the electability of 2019 presidential candidate pairs Joko "Jokowi" Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin and Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno, has remained stagnant ahead of voting day in April.

In the last two months, the electability of Jokowi-Ma'ruf stood at 53.2 percent, while that of Prabowo-Sandiaga has slightly fallen to 34.1 percent from 35.5 percent.

"The Jokowi-Maruf camp is leading by 19.1 percentage points," Charta Politika executive director Yunarto Wijaya said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Yunarto said the trend was due to the relative loyalty among supporters of both camps. Up to 80.9 percent of the pro-Jokowi-Ma'ruf supporters said they remained loyal to the pair, while 79.6 percent of the Prabowo-Sandiaga supporters also said their choice on voting day was already set.

According to the survey, only 44.1 percent of respondents, who were aware of the #2019GantiPresiden (#2019ChangePresident) movement, agreed with it. While 52.4 percent of respondents were in favor of the #01JokowiLagi (#01JokowiAgain) movement.

The survey measured that Jokowi and Prabowo's popularity were at 98 percent and 90.6 percent respectively. While that of Ma'ruf and Sandiaga were at 84.4 percent and 82.6 percent respectively.

The survey was conducted between Dec. 22 to Jan. 2 and involved 2,000 respondents. The institution used face-to-face interviews with structured questionnaires. Charta Politika claims the margin of error of the survey was 2.19 percent. (ggq/swd)
