Sukarjito, Jakarta – Indonesia experienced 4,071 earthquakes in August 2025, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

Of the total, 21 quakes had magnitudes above 5.0, while the remaining 4,050 were below that threshold. Most were minor and went unfelt by residents.

Initially suspected of being intoxicated, Mr Deyal was reportedly arrested and tortured inside a police truck for about three hours.
