Andi Adam Faturahman, Jakarta – Deputy Coordinator for External Affairs of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (Kontras), Andrie Yunus, expressed his gratitude to the public and various parties who have provided support following a sulfuric acid attack.

Andrie's voice message was shared on Kontras' Instagram account @kontras_update three weeks after the attempted murder, which allegedly involved a soldier from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Strategic Intelligence Agency.

"Thank you for all the support that has been given to me in facing the terror from cowardly people," Andrie said in the recording, quoted by Tempo on Thursday, April 2, 2026. He added that public support has strengthened his resolve.

"A luta continua. Long live the struggle," he concluded.

According to @kontras_update, the message was recorded on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, while Andrie was still in intensive care in the HCU room.

Andrie was attacked with sulfuric acid on March 12, 2026, in the Salemba I-Talang area of Central Jakarta, allegedly by an officer from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency. Medical records indicate he sustained burns on more than 20% of his body.

Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) Legal Manager and Public Relations, Yoga Nara, said Andrie is scheduled for a skin graft surgery within the coming week to replace damaged tissue on the back of his neck.

Yoga also noted that on March 28, 2026, Andrie underwent his third eye surgery for his right eye, during which doctors found thinning of the cornea and a leak in the eyeball wall.

Meanwhile, the police have transferred the case to the TNI Military Police Command (Puspom TNI). According to Puspom TNI, there are four suspects – identified by initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES – affiliated with the air and naval forces. NDP holds the rank of captain, SL and BHW are first lieutenants, and ES is a second-class sergeant.
