Hendrik Yaputra, Jakarta – The former Chairperson of the Central Executive of Muhammadiyah, Din Syamsuddin, calls for the unity of the Islamic community to condemn the attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran. Din says these attacks are unjustifiable.

"They do not have any justifiable reason from the perspective of international law because they want to undermine the sovereignty of another country," he said during a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, and several Islamic figures at his residence in South Jakarta on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Din assessed that the attacks constitute a humanitarian tragedy, especially since they were carried out while the Muslim community in Iran was observing the Ramadan fasting month. "Furthermore, it targeted children and women. According to the ethics of Islamic warfare, it is prohibited by law," said Din.

Din emphasized that the United States and Israel's attacks on Iran must be rejected and resisted. He also referred to United States President Donald Trump and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, as sources of global problems. "They must be made a common enemy for the people of the world who love peace and justice," he added.

Din stated that the tragedy befalling the people of Iran is also a tragedy for the Indonesian people. Therefore, Iran and the Islamic community worldwide need to unite to revive Islamic civilization. "Especially since Iranian Muslims have played a role and contributed to the development and advancement of Islamic civilization in the Middle Ages throughout history," he said.

Din also hopes that Iran can win this war. He mentioned that the Indonesian people want to continue cooperating with Iran in the fields of education and the economy.

On the other hand, the Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, expressed his gratitude to Din Syamsuddin, who is the Chairperson of the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation among Civilizations (CDCC). According to him, Din has made a significant contribution in promoting peace efforts at the regional and global levels.

Boroujerdi saw the meeting as an opportunity to form an alliance or coalition against the war with Iran and other countries. Several Islamic figures were present at the meeting. Two of them were Deputy Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Muhyiddin Junaidi, and the Chairperson of the Central Board of the Islamic Women's Union, Marfuah Musthofa.
