Febrianto Adi Saputro, Jessi Carina, Jakarta – Public satisfaction with President Prabowo Subianto's performance has now touched 51.1 percent, a decrease of 30.1 percent in the last nine months. In November 2025, Prabowo's approval rating was 81.2 percent.
This figure is based on the results of the latest survey conducted by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) from July 5-19, 2026 titled "Economic and Political Conditions and the President's Approval Rating".
"The approval rating did not come from nothing. The decline in satisfaction with President Prabowo's performance coincided with worsening public assessments of the economy, politics, and law enforcement", SMRC Executive Director Deni Irvani told Kompas.com on Sunday July 26.
Meanwhile, the number of people who were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with President Prabowo's performance increased from 16 percent in the November 2025 survey to 46.9 percent in the July 2026 survey.
The survey also found that around 4.8 percent of citizens were very satisfied with the president's performance, while 46.3 percent were quite satisfied, 35 percent were somewhat dissatisfied, 11.9 percent were not satisfied at all and 2.1 percent didn't know or didn't answer.
Almost half think economic situation bad
Meanwhile the survey found that 37.9 percent of the public considers the national economy to be in a poor state.
Meanwhile, 11.5 percent of the public stated that it is very poor. In total, 49.4 percent of the public considers Indonesia's economic condition to be poor or very poor.
"Only around 15.7 percent of citizens view the national economic condition positively. Conversely, around half of the public, 49.4 percent, considers the economic condition to be poor or very poor", Irvani told Kompas.com on Sunday.
The remaining 33.9 percent consider the economic condition to be average. Irvani added that this shows that negative perceptions of the economy have become the dominant view, not just felt by a small group.
Furthermore, the SMRC release also shows that negative evaluations of the economic condition have seen a sharp spike in the last nine months.
In the November 2025 survey, only 22.7 percent of citizens considered economic conditions to be poor or very poor.
The survey was conducted from July 5-19, 2026 from a survey population of all Indonesian citizens who are eligible to vote. 749 people were randomly selected and survey was conducted using telephone and face-to-face interviews. Meanwhile the margin of for this survey was 3.7 percent.
