Novali Panji Nugroho, Jakarta – Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai said Indonesia may be on track to break the world record for the largest human rights education program by number of participants, citing information he received from the Guinness World Records organization.

Speaking during a working meeting with House of Representatives (DPR) Commission XIII at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Pigai said his ministry could be recognized for conducting the world's largest human rights training initiative.

"We may be listed as a nominee for the ministry that has carried out the largest human rights education program in the world," Pigai said.

According to Pigai, the current record is held by Uruguay, which organized a human rights training program involving around 3,000 police personnel in 2018.

He said Indonesia has already surpassed that figure through a recent human rights education program in North Sumatra, which involved approximately 6,000 participants.

"We have now conducted training for 6,000 people in North Sumatra," he said.

The former commissioner of Indonesia's National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) expressed confidence that the achievement could earn Indonesia international recognition for hosting the world's largest human rights education program.

Pigai noted that he has previously made predictions that later came true. As an example, he cited his earlier statement that Indonesia would assume the presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council, which was later realized.

"Hopefully, this world record can also be achieved. Of course, other countries may also surpass us. God willing," he said.
