Eka Yudha Saputra, Jakarta – Indonesian Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai is scheduled to present awards to six prominent individuals during the 2025 World Human Rights Day commemoration at Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

The decision is codified in the Minister's Decree on the Awarding of Human Rights Figures for their Dedication to Realizing Human Rights Values, signed in Jakarta on December 8, 2025.

A copy of the Minister of Human Rights' decree obtained by Tempo names the six recipients: Jimly Asshiddiqie, Haris Azhar, Makarim Wibisono, Hariman Siregar, Yan Christian Warinussy, and the late Muhammad Imam Azis.

Minister Natalius Pigai confirmed the six names to Tempo and stated they would be officially announced at the 77th World Human Rights Day event at the Senayan Indoor Tennis facility in Jakarta. "They will attend the Human Rights Day [commemoration] later," Pigai told Tempo in a message on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Jimly Asshiddiqie also confirmed that he would receive the honor from the Ministry of Human Rights. "Yes, tonight," Jimly told Tempo.

According to the Minister's decree, the awarding of this honor is a form of state recognition for the struggle, innovation, and work of human rights figures who have made a positive impact on human rights development at both the national and regional levels. This award is specifically given to the six names in recognition of their dedication to realizing fundamental human rights values.

World Human Rights Day is observed annually by the international community on December 10, commemorating the day in 1948 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year's commemoration adopts the theme: "Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All."
