Dewi Nurita, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has officially ratified the Presidential Regulation No. 53/2021 on the National Human Rights Action Plan (RANHAM) 2021-2025 on June 8 and was legislated into law on the same day.

One of the points contained in the plan mentioned the strategic subject of respect, protection, fulfillment, enforcement and promotion of human rights.

The law also states four groups into this category; women, children, people with disabilities, and custom society. The reason for the latter stated in the presidential regulation is as follows:

"The basic thought for this is that there is yet a sufficient legal protection framework for customs society and the violations against their land that often happens."

This latest version is an advancement from the RANHAM 2015-2019 which failed to accommodate the protection of sexual minority groups and agrarian issues.

The Minister of Law and Human Rights, Social Minister, Home Affairs Minister, head of Bappenas, and Foreign Affairs Minister are joined in the national committee to uphold, plan and supervise, coordinate, and monitor the regulation.
