Lenny Tristia Tambun, Jakarta – Indonesian State civil servants will enjoy many long weekends until the end of the year, according to a recent presidential decree.
On Tuesday, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo signed a presidential decree regarding this year's collective leave for civil servants.
The first upcoming joint holiday is on Friday as part of the Islamic New Year 1442 and thus resulting in a four-day long weekend since Thursday.
Next on the line is a collective leave on Maulid Nabi (Prophet Muhammad's birthday) on Oct. 28 – which falls on Wednesday – to Oct. 30 followed by a weekend.
Last but not least is the long-awaited eleven-days holiday starting from Dec. 24 on Thursday. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has shifted the Idul Fitri holidays from May to the end of the year precisely from Dec. 28 to Dec. 31. With the New Year's on Friday, civil servants can take a breather for 11 consecutive days.
The decree stated that the joint holiday will not affect their annual leave.
Those who are not entitled to have a joint holiday due to their position will receive additional annual leave based on the number of collective leave days they are not getting.
