Yuni Rohmawati, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto plans to build warehouses and cold storage in every village as a medium-term anticipatory measure to store the community's agricultural products. This development will involve the Indonesian armed forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and state-owned enterprises.
"I will allocate a special budget to build improvised warehouses that are not too expensive," Prabowo said while attending the Indonesia Planting Movement event in Sungai Pinang Village, Rambutan District, Banyuasin Regency, Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Prabowo explained that abundant agricultural products require adequate storage facilities. Therefore, the construction of warehouses will also utilize available land owned by the TNI, Polri, and the government.
"Anyway, (agricultural) products from our farmers must be appropriately stored and secured for the benefit of the nation," he said.
The construction of this warehouse is part of the plan to establish 70 to 80 thousand cooperatives called Koperasi Merah Putih, or the Red and White Cooperatives. Each cooperative will be equipped with supporting facilities such as warehouses, transportation equipment, and modern technology.
"Each cooperative will have at least one drone. We will also provide one to two trucks per warehouse to avoid wasting agricultural products. We guarantee that the people's harvest will be absorbed and stored properly," Prabowo explained.
