Septia Ryanthie, Jakarta – Vice presidential candidate number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka ensures that his father, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi, will not interfere in Prabowo-Gibran's cabinet talks if the pair is elected. Gibran assures that the arrangement of ministerial positions will only be carried out by Prabowo Subianto.
"The one who arranges (the ministerial cabinet) is Mr. Prabowo," Gibran says when asked whether Jokowi will participate in arranging the Prabowo-Gibran ministerial cabinet on Monday, March 18, 2024.
According to Gibran, talks about the allocation of ministerial seats for coalition parties will only be discussed by him and Prabowo. "So far, the discussion has been between me and Mr. Prabowo, between the two of us," he said.
However, he admits that so far there has been no discussion regarding this matter. He also admits that he has not given Prabowo any input regarding ministerial allocations.
"No, not yet. The time will come for the discussion," says Gibran.
Gibran also previously responded to Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto's statement asking for a large portion of seats in the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet. He declares that it will be discussed with Prabowo.
"Yes, we will talk about it later," he replies.
The eldest son of President Jokowi says that his party is currently focusing on the results of the national recapitulation of the 2024 election which is slated to be announced on March 20.
"We are focusing on the 20th [of March]. For ministerial issues and others can be discussed and discussed again later," he concludes.
