Andi Adam Faturahman, Jakarta – Bambang Wuryanto, also known as Bambang Pacul, Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), stated that there has been no instruction to hold a leadership meeting to address the letter from the Forum of Retired Military Soldiers (FPP TNI) demanding the impeachment of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
According to Bambang, official letters addressed to the leadership are first received by the Secretariat. If deemed important, the leaders will then convene a discussion to decide on the letter's stance.
"Well, there hasn't been a leadership meeting yet," he said at the Parliament Complex on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Nevertheless, he declined to confirm whether the FPP TNI demand letter had been received by the General Secretariat. He only mentioned that a leadership meeting would be held if there were instructions to follow up on the letter.
Subsequently, Bambang continued, the MPR will address the letter in accordance with prevailing rules and hand it over to the MPR Speaker, Ahmad Muzani.
"When will the meeting be held? The one who sets the agenda and leads will be left to the Speaker. So, ask Pak Muzani," said the PDIP politician.
Following a meeting with former Vice President Try Sutrisno at his residence on May 30, the FPP TNI sent a letter outlining eight demands to the MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani and the House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani.
Letter number 003/FPPTNI/V/2025, which demanded the impeachment of Gibran from the Vice Presidential position, has been received by the DPR General Secretariat.
"The letter has been received; we hope for a prompt follow-up," said FPP TNI Secretary Bimo Satrio on June 2, 2025.
On a different occasion, Said Abdullah, the DPR Budget Committee Chair, requested that the issue of Gibran's impeachment be set aside for now, deeming it to lack urgent interest.
According to him, public opinion within the DPR is still largely unfamiliar with the term "impeachment." Furthermore, the current objective conditions necessitate focusing on future political challenges, not impeachment issues.
"In my opinion, even if it's said that the DPR has received the letter, it doesn't mean it will be processed immediately," Said confirmed at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
