Adi Warsono, Bekasi – The Bekasi Regency Government banned the operation of night entertainment venues ahead of the Islamic New Year 1445 Hijri that falls on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Acting Bekasi Regent Dani Ramdan asked nightclub entrepreneurs to comply with the policy that takes effect starting today, July 18.
"The management of night entertainment venues must close their business from July 18, 2023, until an unspecified time," he said in a written statement on Monday, July 17, 2023.
The prohibition is stipulated in Bekasi Regent's Circular No. KK.02/SE-57/SATPOLPP released on July 17, 2023.
Dani explained that the ban is aimed at creating peace, as well as maintaining public order and the solemnity of the Muslim community in celebrating the first Muharram 1445 Hijri. A day before the new year, he added, Muslims usually perform religious activities.
The Bekasi Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) has circulated the letter to all night entertainment establishments. Violators will be subject to sanctions according to applicable regulations.
"We will impose sanctions on violators based on Home Affairs Minister's Regulation No. 54 of 2011 concerning standard operating procedures for public order agency," Dani said.
The ban on the operation of night entertainment venues during the Islamic New Year 1445 Hijri also refers to the Bekasi Regency Regional Regulation No. 3 of 2016 on tourism.
