Jokowi's satisfaction rate lowest since 2016: Indikator Politik Indonesia

Tempo - February 8, 2021

Budiarti Utami Putri, Jakarta – Pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia on Monday announced that its recent survey found that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's satisfaction rate failed to improve in 2021 with 62.9 percent. It also recorded an increase in dissatisfaction rate.

According to its latest press release, the executive director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, on February 8 wrote this was the lowest satisfaction rate for President Jokowi since June 2016.

The pollster said the satisfaction rate of the President had fluctuated before June 2016, which hovered between 40 percent to 66 percent. However, since 2016, the President had never scored below 65 percent until this latest survey in 2021 showed its results.

The pollster also stated that this was a significant drop compared to September 2020, where the President scored a satisfaction rate of 68.3 percent and in February of 2020 with 69.5 percent satisfaction rate.

Muhtadi also explained the President's dissatisfaction rate grew from 28 percent to 35.6 percent in the past year as the pandemic hit the country.

The pollster's survey on President Jokowi's performance was held from February 1-3, 2021, by simple random sampling involving 1,200 respondents interviewed by phone.

Indikator Politik Indonesia claimed its survey had a 2.9 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level.
