Antara, Jakarta – The Jakarta branch of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) said there are 3,930 mosques and around 6,000 prayer rooms in the capital that will carry out Eid al-Adha prayers.
However, DMI Jakarta chairman Makmun Al Ayyubi said that residents of 33 neighborhoods (RW) declared as Covid-19 red zones should pray at their homes instead.
"It seems that almost all [mosques] are holding [the mass prayers], by sticking to the Covid-19 health protocol," Makmun said.
Makmun asked people in the red zone not to hold sacrificial animal slaughtering activities. The ritual, he said, should be left to official slaughter houses (RPH).
Residents in Covid-19 red zone can also hold the rituals by in the nearest neighborhoods categorized as a green zones.
Makmun said that the DMI is giving rapid tests for Covid-19 to the butchers of 146 mosques in Koja Sub-District, North Jakarta. Covid-19 tests will also be held in other districts.
