Francisco Rosarians, Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government are ensuring that all night-time entertainment venues are complying with their regulation for Ramadan.
On Sunday, May 5, a team of officers from the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Tourism and Culture Service, regional work units (SKPD), the Metro Jaya Police, and the Indonesian National Army (TNI) patrolled several locations in Jakarta famous for their nightlife businesses.
"We will be supervising these venues for 33 days," said Head of Jakarta's Satpol PP, Arifin, said yesterday.
The Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office earlier issued a circular regulating the opening hours of entertainment venues dyeing this year's Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr.
In the letter, the Jakarta government requires several types of business to cease their operations from the day before Ramadan until the Day after the Eid.
These venues include nightclubs, discos, massage parlors, and bars, among others. The circular also mandates the closure of hotels or tourist areas that are integrated into the nightlife businesses that are prohibited from operating.
