Ayu Cipta, Jakarta – Two police officers in Papua, Adjunct Inspector One (Aiptu) Hidayat Suratnoharta and Senior Brigadier Tri Yudha Argadianto, died following an attack by unidentified assailants.
Aiptu Hidayat passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, a day after the death of Bripka Tri Yudha, who succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
Papua Police spokesperson Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo stated that the two officers were attacked while at a food stall near Yakobak Bridge in Nogi District, Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Highlands, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
"The body of Aiptu Hidayat will be buried in his hometown in Magetan Regency, East Java," Benny said in a written statement received on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Meanwhile, the remains of Bripka (posthumously promoted) Tri Yudha were laid to rest at the Kesuma Trikora Waena Heroes Cemetery on Thursday afternoon, December 13, 2024, in a funeral ceremony led by Papua Police Finance Division Head Commissioner Irawan Banuaji.

Similarly, Bripka Tri Yudha was assaulted by several unknown individuals wielding sharp weapons, causing critical injuries to his head and nose. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
In addition to the two police officers, a civilian identified as Bastam, 43, was also targeted in the attack. The assailants fired three gunshots at the food stall, striking Bastam in the abdomen and causing life-threatening injuries.
