Daniel A Fajri, Eka Yudha, Petir Garda B, Jakarta – The Treasurer of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Olly Dondokambey, said the party chair, Megawati Soekarnoputri, already instructed its members to support the Prabowo-led government.
Megawati and President-elect Prabowo Subianto are scheduled to meet before the presidential inauguration on October 20, 2024.
Olly said that both of them would discuss the future of the republic. "Especially since Ibu (Megawati) has already spoken that we support Prabowo's government," said Olly old Tempo on Sunday, October 6.
The North Sulawesi Governor, however, was unable to confirm whether PDIP will be assigned positions in the future government's cabinet. Olly also said the meeting will likely run between October 12 and 15.
"The point is, we will cooperate and support (Prabowo's government). Hence, Puan was re-appointed as House Speaker, which in itself is a form of cooperation between the executive and legislative," he said.
The meeting between Megawati and Prabowo has been confirmed multiple times by both PDIP and Gerindra Party officials.
Prabowo, as Gerindra Party Chair, said the meeting will commence before October 20, without detailing further. "Insya Allah, the meeting will be conducted prior to the inauguration," he said on Tuesday, October 1.
Meanwhile, Gerindra Party elite Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has yet to respond to Tempo's message on Monday, October 7. The Deputy House Speaker previously confirmed that Megawati and Prabowo were still finding a suitable date and place for the meeting.
It is known that Megawati appointed former Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo to rival Prabowo, who linked hands with President Jokowi's son Gibran Rakabuming in the last presidential election.
PDIP remained the only party that has yet to announce that it will join the Prabowo-led government. Previously, the three parties backing Anies Baswedan in the February election, PKS, NasDem Party, and PKB, already joined the Onward Indonesia Coalition in support of Prabowo Subianto.
