Dian Rahma Fika Alnina, Jakarta – State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government has not yet thought about scenarios to extend the leadership tenure of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The presidential spokesperson was responding to former president Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, who has been advocating a second term for the duo featuring his eldest son.

"Speaking on behalf of the government and representing Pak President, what matters most to us right now is to focus on our work first. We have not thought of matters like that," Prasetyo said after attending a Task Force Meeting on Employment Termination Mitigation at the Parliament complex in Jakarta on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

According to the Deputy Chair of the ruling party Gerindra, the administration still faces a massive mountain of work. Among them are labor issues, civil service management, and industrial downstreaming issues.

"There are still numerous issues concerning labor that we need to address. We are focusing on that first," Prasetyo reiterated.

Jokowi's endorsement for the Prabowo-Gibran administration to secure a second term (2029-2034) was revealed by Bestari Barus, Chairperson of the Indonesian Solidarity Party's (PSI) Central Executive Board. Bestari noted that Jokowi explicitly asked PSI and its loyalists to safeguard the Prabowo-Gibran government.

Bestari disclosed the conversation following a meeting with Jokowi in Solo, Central Java, on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The former NasDem politician mentioned that the former president reminded them to maintain political stability and support the current administration.

"He told us to oversee Pak Prabowo and Gibran, even up to two terms," Bestari told journalists on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Jokowi has repeatedly expressed public support for the long-term continuity of the Prabowo-Gibran administration. Most recently, he broached the topic while speaking with reporters at his private residence in Sumber, Banjarsari District, Solo, on January 30, 2026.

At the time, Jokowi was asked to comment on a statement by PSI Secretary-General Ahmad Ali regarding potential strong contenders who might challenge Gibran Rakabuming in the 2029 presidential race. "I have already stated that Prabowo-Gibran for two terms. That's it," Jokowi remarked.

Jokowi also instructed the Bara JP volunteer corps to support the Prabowo-Gibran administration for two terms. "From the very beginning, I have conveyed to all volunteers to support Prabowo-Gibran to lead for two terms," Jokowi said on September 19, 2025.
