Ichsan Ali, Jakarta – President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka met with President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Presidential Special Staff Coordinator, Ari Dwipayana, said that during the meeting, Jokowi, who is Gibran's father, congratulated Prabowo-Gibran on their appointment as president and vice president-elect by the General Election Commission (KPU) after the Constitutional Court rejected the lawsuit filed by rival candidates Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan.

"The President congratulated and reiterated the government's full support to ensure a smooth transition process in October," said Ari in a press release on Thursday.

Ari acknowledged that the meeting was initiated by Prabowo-Gibran to directly convey their appointment as president and vice president-elect.

"President Jokowi hopes that the new government led by the president and vice president-elect can start working immediately after being inaugurated on October 20," Ari explained.

Furthermore, Jokowi also supported Prabowo-Gibran's initiatives and steps to embrace all components of the nation in joint efforts to realize the vision of Indonesia as an advanced country by 2045.

"At present, national unity is much needed, especially in facing the impact of the current global economic-political situation," concluded Ari.

Prabowo-Gibran secured their position as the elected president and vice president with a total of 96,214,691 votes, equivalent to 58.59 percent. This number also fulfills the requirement of at least 20 percent of the votes from 38 provinces in Indonesia.
