Jakarta – The Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) leads voter preference for Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) election, followed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and Golkar, according to a survey by Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO).
The survey was conducted from October 12 to 20, 2026, to mark the second anniversary of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's administration.
IPO Executive Director Dedi Kurnia Syah said the survey aimed to gauge public opinion on the government's performance over the past two years.
"It also seeks to understand how the public assesses the government's performance, policy direction, and political dynamics since it was inaugurated in October 2024," Dedi said in a written statement, as quoted on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Gerindra recorded voter preference of 23.1 percent, followed by PDI-P at 11.6 percent and Golkar at 10.7 percent.
Five other parties currently represented in the House recorded support below 10 percent. The National Awakening Party (PKB) received 6.1 percent, the Democratic Party 5.9 percent, and the National Mandate Party (PAN) 5.8 percent. The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) garnered 4.6 percent, while the NasDem Party received 4.2 percent.
The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), led by Kaesang Pangarep, the youngest son of former president Joko Widodo, ranked just below NasDem with 2.9 percent. The United Development Party (PPP) followed at 1.6 percent.
Several other parties recorded less than 1 percent support, including the People's Movement Party at 0.9 percent, the Gelora Party at 0.8 percent, and the Hanura Party at 0.2 percent.
The survey found that 21.6 percent of respondents had yet to decide, declined to answer, or chose not to disclose their political preferences.
The poll involved 1,200 respondents selected through multistage random sampling. It had a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points and a 95 percent confidence level.
Gerindra also leads Tempo data science survey
The IPO findings are consistent with a Tempo Data Science survey conducted in August 2026, which also placed Gerindra first, with 20 percent of respondents choosing the party. However, that figure was lower than the 23 percent Gerindra received in the 2024 legislative election.
PDI-P also saw a decline in the Tempo Data Science survey, receiving 16 percent, compared with 18 percent in the 2024 election. Golkar ranked third with 10 percent, up from 8 percent in the 2024 election.
Support for several other parties remained broadly in line with their 2024 election results. PKB received 8 percent, NasDem 5 percent, and PKS 4 percent.
Responding to the Tempo Data Science findings, Gerindra spokesperson Sugiat Santoso said the party viewed every survey as a source of constructive feedback.
He said public satisfaction and voter preference were dynamic and could shift in response to emerging issues.
"Fluctuations in survey findings during a government's term are entirely normal in a democratic system," said Sugiat, who is deputy chair of Commission XIII of the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Sugiat said Prabowo and Gerindra were focused not on building a political image ahead of the 2029 general election, but on addressing problems faced by the public.
"Gerindra does not view survey results as a cause for political anxiety, but as a mirror and an internal reminder for the cabinet to respond more quickly to public needs," he said.
