Ichsan Ali, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has called on the president-elect and vice president-elect, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to start working immediately after their inauguration on October 20, 2024.
Jokowi urged Prabowo and Gibran, who is the president's oldest son, to prepare various work programs that were promised during their campaign. These programs include the free lunch program for students, a three-year tax exemption for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), 10,000 medical student scholarships, and the construction of 3 million homes for low-income families.
"Today, the KPU (General Elections Commission) announced the result of the 2024 Presidential Election. What does this mean? The elected president and vice president must prepare themselves with the planned programs for work immediately after the inauguration," said Jokowi after opening the 2024 National Health Work Meeting at ICE BSD Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday.
Jokowi emphasized that everyone should respect the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the 2024 Election, which is final and binding.
The Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy'ari, on Wednesday officially declared Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the elected President and Vice President for the 2024-2029 term after the court rejected the lawsuit filed by rival candidates Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan.
Prabowo Subianto said that the 2024 Presidential Election process had been completed with his and Gibran Rakabuming Raka's designation as the president and vice president-elect by the KPU.
"Thank you, today we have come to the KPU as part of the process we have gone through together. We have followed the entire presidential election process. Today we received the decree from the KPU and will start working hard to prepare ourselves," said Prabowo upon arriving at the KPU office on Imam Bonjol Street, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Prabowo-Gibran fulfilled the requirements to become the elected president and vice president with a total of 96,214,691 votes, equivalent to 58.59 percent. This number also meets the requirement of at least 20 percent of the votes from 38 provinces in Indonesia.
