Diva Suukyi Larasati, Jakarta – Supporters of the presidential candidate pair number 1, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar or AMIN, staged a rally in the Horse Statue area in Central Jakarta today, April 19, ahead of the decision hearing on the election dispute lawsuit by the Constitutional Court (MK) on Monday, April 22.
The masses called for a postponement of the vote count and a re-vote. "In line with the demand of the 01 camp at the Constitutional Court, [we urge the court] to disqualify [candidate pair number] 02 or Gibran Rakabuming because he is mentally disabled," the protest's coordinator Elyasa Budianto raised his voice in Jakarta on Friday, April 19.
The demonstration, which saw the participation of organizations such as Formanies and Indonesia Gemilang, emphasized the need for the Constitutional Court to substantiate the allegations of election fraud.
Endang Hidayat, an AMIN volunteer from the labor sector, appealed to the court for justice in light of the purported election fraud. "The legal team of the 01 camp has executed its duties. Hopefully, justice will be served in favor of the Indonesian people today," he said.
He also called for the impeachment of President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and urged the court to demonstrate courage in disqualifying Gibran – Jokowi's eldest son – as a vice presidential candidate, "and to take measures in cases of structured, systematic, and massive violations [in the 2024 election]."
Endang contended that today's rally reflected concerns about the fairness of Indonesia's democratic process and underscored the significance of endeavors to ensure that the election process is transparent and free of fraud.
