Maria Gabrielle & Mohammad Said, Jakarta – The General Elections Commission (KPU) is set to wrap up the vote tallying process and unveil the nationwide results of the 2024 elections on Wednesday.
Following the announcement, the Constitutional Court (MK) is prepared to hold hearings on disputes over the election results. Petitioners will have a three-day window for presidential election disputes and 3x24 hours for legislative election disputes to submit their petitions to the MK.
"The KPU is prepared to handle election result disputes in the Constitutional Court, understanding its fundamental role in the electoral process," Idham Holik, a Commissioner of the KPU, said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court has officially established a task force to handle election disputes. The inauguration ceremony, led by Chief Justice Suhartoyo, took place in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Suhartoyo emphasized that the task force members have undergone comprehensive training and will support the court's clerical duties during trial proceedings.
"We trust they will consistently uphold their commitment, as outlined in their oath, to ensure a fair judicial process," he remarked.
