Ervana Trikarinaputri, Hanin Marwah, Badung – Megawati Soekarnoputri, the general chair of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, or PDIP said the concept of "opposition" and "coalition" does not exist in Indonesia's presidential system. According to her, the terms government opposition and coalition are known in a parliamentary system.

Therefore, PDIP declares itself neither as opposition nor as part of the government coalition under President Prabowo Subianto.

"Indonesia's democracy is not blocs of power, but one that relies on the people and its constitution," said Megawati during the PDIP congress' closing in Bali on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Megawati was re-elected as the general chair of the party in the national working meeting held in 2024, which was then reaffirmed yesterday in Bali. On the first day of the congress, August 1, 2025, Megawati took the oath and formally resumed her position as PDIP's leader.

Megawati emphasized that PDIP does not position itself as opposition to the government, not saddling up with the administration to form a coalition.

Megawati claimed that the party ideologically stands on truth and favors the common people. "PDIP takes a firm stance as a balancing party to ensure that the direction of national development remains within the constitutional framework and the interests of the people," said Megawati.

The eldest daughter of the first president, Soekarno, continued that she will support Prabowo's policy if they serve the people. "However, we will also raise our voices and act firmly against any deviation from the values of Pancasila, social justice, and the mandate of struggles, and I add, fair justice," said Megawati.

According to Megawati, allegiance is not about being inside or outside the government, but being true to the truth and taking a moral stance in politics as taught by the late Soekarno. She also urged the party to maintain PDIP's strategic role as an ideological force, a constitutional balancer, and a pioneer of the people's struggle.
