Hanin Marwah, Jakarta – The polemic over Indonesia's ex-president Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s fake diploma continues. This time, the Democratic Party is also implicated in the tangle of this issue and accused as the mastermind behind the narrative of disbelief in Jokowi's bachelor's degree.
Former Minister of Youth and Sports Roy Suryo stated that the accusation of involvement of the 'blue party' in this case originated from Jokowi's statement. This is based on Jokowi's statement on July 25, 2025, which mentioned a 'big figure' behind the fake diploma allegations.
Subsequently, Secretary General of the United Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) Ade Darmawan stated that the mastermind behind the issue is related to the blue shirt he wore. Then, on a different occasion, Jokowi's volunteer figure and Chairman of the Red and White Solidarity, Silfester Matutina, stated that the blue color points to a political party that predominantly bears blue in its party identity.
"I am very confident that this is Joko Widodo's style. His style is nabok nyilih tangan (hitting a person with someone else's hand)," said Roy. "And he likes using proxies," he added.
Roy gave an example of the pattern commonly used by Jokowi. He explained that Jokowi's diploma, which had previously only circulated in the form of photocopies, suddenly appeared in color on April 1, 2025, in a post by one of the PSI party cadres, Dian Sandi.
Roy Suryo questioned how Dian Sandi could obtain the diploma if not from Jokowi. "Who else owns it if not Joko Widodo? No one. (But) who uploaded it first? Dian Sandi, a member of the PSI party," he said.
He then reinforced his argument based on information that Dian Sandi even apologized to Jokowi by holding an audience in Solo out of fear of being ensnared by Article 32 or 35 of the ITE Law. Meanwhile, the possibility of Dian being ensnared by these two articles is wide open if Jokowi did not give permission from the beginning.
According to Roy Suryo, this case shows the same pattern as the allegations against the 'blue party' where Jokowi uses others to widen the battle. "So the pattern of using a proxy, using someone else, is also used in the case of the blue party earlier," he said.
Nevertheless, Roy emphasized that he no longer has any ties to the red and white star party. It has been more than five years, he said, since he ended his career with the Demokrat Party.
He claimed that the exposure of Jokowi's fake diploma case is purely for scientific reasons and has nothing to do with party politics. "On the contrary, he (Jokowi) is widening the battle with other parties, thank God according to me. Please go ahead," he said.
