Antara, Jakarta – In anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, Jakarta's Tourism and Creative Economy Agency will temporarily close several nightlife venues and massage services.
The head of the agency, Andhika Permata, stated that this measure is taken as a sign of respect for the sacred month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr celebration. The closure will affect various businesses starting from the day before the beginning of Ramadan and continuing throughout the month.
Tourism-related businesses, such as nightclubs, discos, steam baths, massage parlors, and adult manual and electronic gaming arenas, will be closed from one day before Ramadan on March, 10 until the third day of Eid al-Fitr on April 14.
"This rule does not apply to tourism businesses located in four and five-star hotels. Operational hours for certain integrated businesses with hotels in commercial areas are also regulated to minimize disruption to the surrounding environment," said Andhika.
Meanwhile, tourism establishments like executive karaoke, pubs, and billiard places will operate during designated hours.
"Strict supervision will be enforced, and violations of these rules will be subject to sanctions as stipulated," emphasized Andhika.
Specifically, nightclubs and discos integrated with at least a 4-star hotel and commercial areas that are not adjacent to residential areas, places of worship, schools, and/or hospitals, are permitted to operate within the following hours:
- Nightclubs operate from 08:30 p.m. Jakarta time to 01:30 a.m. Jakarta time.
- Discos operate from 08:30 p.m. Jakarta time to 01:30 a.m. Jakarta time.
- Steam baths operate from 11:00 a.m. Jakarta time to 11:00 p.m. Jakarta time.
- Massage parlors operate from 11:00 a.m. Jakarta time to 11:00 p.m. Jakarta time.
- Skill-based manual, mechanical, and/or electronic adult gaming arenas operate from 11:00 a.m. Jakarta time to 01:30 a.m. Jakarta time.
- Stand-alone bars/drinking establishments operate from 11:00 a.m. Jakarta time to 01:00 a.m. Jakarta time.
- Bars/drinking establishments supporting specific tourism businesses follow the schedule of their main business activities.
