Annisa Febiola, Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka (Prabowo-Gibran) vowed to continue and add to the existing social welfare cards program. The purpose of these programs was to eradicate absolute poverty in Indonesia.
"The existence of absolute poverty is proof that economic development is not yet optimal not equal. The state is obliged to provide social protection for low-income citizens," Prabowo-Gibran wrote in their vision and mission statement document, cited on Friday.
According to the duo of Defense Minister and President Joko Widodo's oldest son, the next administration must continue the existing social welfare programs.
"[The program is upgraded] into lifelong social protection with poverty rate targeted under 6 percent, and to achieve high human development status," it wrote.
The programs included are the Indonesia Healthy Card (KIS), Elderly KIS, Indonesia Smart Card, Food Aid Card, Pre-Employment Card, MEKAR, and the Family Hope Program.
Prabowo-Gibran will add a Healthy Children Card and business credits program for multiple sectors. The pair also promised to increase food production, and medium-sized businesses downstream, as well as credits for millennial startups.
Prabowo-Gobran targets millennials to become the frontline to eradicate poverty and boost the Human Development Index.
