Wijayanti Putri, Solo – Vice-presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka is gearing up for a trip to Kalimantan that will mark his inaugural campaign rally outside of Java.
While specific districts for the upcoming rally were not disclosed by the mayor of Solo, Gibran expressed readiness for the event.
"This weekend, I will be heading to Kalimantan. Our stops are planned, and I'm looking forward to it," he said at Solo City Hall in Central Java on Friday
Later today, he is set to participate in a music concert organized by his campaign team in Solo.
Even after assuming the role of Prabowo Subianto's running mate, Gibran has continued his responsibilities as Solo's mayor, dedicating his weekends to campaign activities.
Earlier this week, he took a brief two-day leave to accompany Prabowo at the inaugural presidential debate held in Jakarta.
On December 22, Gibran is slated to step onto the stage himself for a debate focused on economic matters in Jakarta, alongside the other two vice-presidential candidates – Chief Security Minister Mohammad Mahfud MD, and National Awakening Party (PKB) Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar.
While Gibran is known for being reserved in interviews, raising doubts about his political prowess compared to seasoned politicians, a senior figure in the Prabowo camp, Ahmad Muzani, offered a different perspective.
"People may underestimate Gibran's debate skills due to his reserved nature," said Ahmad Muzani. "However, having observed his tenure as Solo's mayor, Gibran has demonstrated an ability to articulate issues and display a solid understanding of various matters."
