Ade Ridwan Yandwiputra, Jakarta – The Directorate General of Immigration granted a new type of visa to Coldplay, who is set to hold a concert at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan tonight, November 15, 2023. The new visa is called the music and arts visa.

Silmy Karim, Director General of Immigration, said Coldplay's arrival was the perfect time to introduce the new visa which was launched in September 2023.

"The government is trying to make Indonesia an important destination for international activities and events. For this reason, the Directorate General of Immigration issued a music and arts visa with concise requirements and an easy online application process," Silmy said on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Silmy said that international artists planning to perform in Indonesia will no longer need to attach a work permit, a police clearance letter (SKCK), or a certificate of at least five years of work experience.

"The requirements for foreign artists are made easier because they only work in Indonesia for a short time," Silmy stressed.

According to him, the work of foreign bands or singers in the country also does not have a competitive effect on local workers.

To obtain the music and arts visa, event organizers or sponsors could apply directly via the immigration website evisa.imigrasi.go.id.

For Coldplay, Silmy said that his side issued four musician visas (index C7A) and 158 crew visas (index C7B).

"Considering that more and more people (foreigners) are coming here to watch music concerts, we are giving them the opportunity to explore other interesting places in Indonesia, hoping this will bring in foreign exchange for the country. Besides, Indonesian citizens also don't have to go abroad to watch concerts," the Immigration DG said.
