Aisyah Amira Wakang, Jakarta – The Jakarta Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) declared that the Central Executive Council of the National Mandate Party (DPP PAN) has been proven to have committed an administrative violation of the 2024 General Election for its video advertisement of 'PAN PAN PAN' circulating in mass media.
"The reported party (DPP PAN) has been legally and convincingly proven to have committed election administrative violations," the Jakarta Bawaslu Chairman, Benny Sabdo, said on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
Previously, the South Jakarta Bawaslu reported PAN for an alleged administrative violation as the political party broadcast its song PAN PAN PAN on various media platforms, including TikTok Sahabat PAN, Youtube PAN TV, and advertisements on Trans 7 television station.
Member of South Jakarta City Bawaslu, Ahmad Fahlevi, emphasized that such a song could only be distributed internally following Article 79 (2) of the General Election Commission (KPU) Regulation No. 15 of 2023. "If they share it internally, that will be no problem, but they spread it widely and in public spaces," Fahlevi said after the hearing at the Jakarta Bawaslu Office.
Fahlevi also pointed out the promotion and self-image contained in the video. He claimed that his side had reminded PAN to take down the video. However, PAN did not heed the call.
Therefore, Bawaslu issued a warning to the political party not to repeat the action that contradicts the regulations.
In this case, the DPP PAN was suspected of violating Article 36 (4) in conjunction with Article 55 (1) of Law No. 32 of 2002 on broadcasting. The Jakarta Bawaslu would then submit a recommendation to the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) to follow up on this decision.
