Meanwhile, the price of subsidized fuel brands, Pertalite and Diesel, did not change. The price of Pertalite remains at Rp10,000 per liter and Diesel at Rp6,800 per liter.

People on social media expressed concern about the gasoline price hike. As of 9 a.m. today, the keyword 'Pertalite' was among the trending topics on X, formerly Twitter, with at least 2,688 tweets.

Some netizens worried that Pertalite would become rare. Some complained about the surge in Pertamax fuel price. Some hoped that the price of Pertalite would not increase.

Pertamina's VP of Corporate Communications, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, said that the hike in non-subsidized fuel prices was made to comply with the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) No. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022.
