Antara, Jakarta – The Garuda Indonesia Workers Union (Sekarga) on Friday announced they had sent a formal forensic audit request to the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) against Garuda Indonesia management's entire transactions.

Sekarga chairperson Tomy Tampatty in a written statement said this was meant to "expose every transaction that is suspected to be an act of corruption in Garuda's organization," Antaranews reported.

He said the letter included requests to audit the flag-carrier's transactions on the procurement of aircraft, airplane engines, and direct appointment of restructuring consultants in 2020, which were revealed by Garuda Indonesia commissioners.

Based on the information he obtained that has spread wildly on social media, restructuring consultant fees reached Rp800 billion.

Sekarga hoped that forensic auditing could be used as a measure to save the flag-carrier. "We truly hope BPK will be able to conduct an audit of all of the transactions and every finding that indicates any signs of corruption must be followed up by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)."
