Jakarta (Antara) – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto called on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states to jointly tackle the movement of terrorism.
Before delegations of the countries' military, Prabowo said that terrorism is a threat to the country's security so that they must remain vigilant.
"I strongly hope for good communication among ASEAN countries when there is such a terrorism threat," said Prabowo during the 20th ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM) in Bandung, Monday.
According to him, there are three threats generated from terrorism, viz. transnational crime, radicalism, and terrorism itself.
"Either we acknowledge it or not, like it or not, there is a dynamic movement threatening ASEAN countries," said the former Indonesian army special forces (Kopassus) general.
Therefore, Prabowo called for coordination on efforts to combat terrorism. The minister also hoped for a good partnership to create peace for the nations of the world. "This is for the sake of the strong sovereignty of each ASEAN country to move forward and develop in the future."
