Irsyan Hasyim, Jakarta – The Strategic Intelligence Agency of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (BAIS TNI) has captured a personnel from the Police's Special Detachment for Counterterrorism (Densus 88) named Briptu FF on Friday, July 25, 2025.

Based on the information received by Tempo, the incident started when Briptu FF was tailing a businessman with the initials FYH who was in the area of Hotel Borobudur, Central Jakarta. From the surveillance, it was found that FYH met with someone.

Realizing that he was being watched, FYH then slammed the police officer's mobile phone as he had taken pictures of his activities during lunch. FYH then is suspected of contacting a high-ranking TNI officer and reporting the stalking incident.

The TNI high-ranking officer then dispatched several BAIS TNI members to the location. At around 2 p.m., the Densus 88 member was then taken by BAIS TNI after being interrogated. The Densus member was only released a few days later after a meeting between the leaders of the Police and the leaders of BAIS TNI.

Tempo asked for confirmation regarding this arrest to the Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko. "I don't know yet," said Truno.

Confirmation efforts were also made to the Administrative Staff Coordinator of the Head of BAIS TNI, Colonel Enrico Christianto. However, the questions sent by Tempo via a messaging application have not been answered as of the writing of this article.

Incidents of the arrest of a Densus 88 member after stalking someone have occurred before. In mid-2024, a Densus 88 member was arrested by military police for stalking the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) Febrie Adriansyah.

Recap of Densus 88 member's arrest after stalking Jampidsus

Two members of Densus 88 were suspected of stalking Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at around 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. At that time, Febrie was having dinner at a restaurant in Cipete, South Jakarta.

Based on Tempo sources, Febrie was said to often visit a restaurant that served French cuisine for dinner. Two individuals who were aware of the incident recounted that one of the Densus 88 members was caught red-handed while monitoring Febrie's dinner.

One of the Densus 88 members was said to have requested a table on the second floor under the pretext of wanting to smoke. However, the man always wore a mask. At that time, Febrie was in a VIP room on the second floor with a glass wall. The man, who was later identified as a Densus 88 member, continued to wear his mask and only occasionally took a puff of his cigarette.

The man then directed the device, which was suspected to be a recording device, towards Febrie's room. The TNI military policeman who was then guarding Febrie became suspicious of the actions of the two men. At that time, Febrie was escorted by TNI military police with security assistance from the Deputy Attorney General for Military Affairs as Jampidsus was handling major corruption cases, such as mining.

Those who knew about the incident mentioned that when the two Densus 88 members hurriedly left the restaurant, one of them was immediately embraced by the military police and the other managed to escape. When one Densus 88 member was captured, the source mentioned that there was no commotion that occurred. "Perhaps because they are both officials, so they didn't want to make a scene," he said.

After capturing one Densus 88 member, Febrie then contacted several law enforcement officials, such as the Chief of the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Department Komjen Wahyu Widada, Deputy Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, and the Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

After the conversation between law enforcement officials, the Densus 88 member was picked up by the Paminal. However, all data on the Densus 88 member's mobile phone had been retrieved by the Jampidsus team.

The Head of the Legal Information Division of the Attorney General's Office at that time, Ketut Sumedana, confirmed that a member of the Police's Special Detachment for Counterterrorism did indeed stalk Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. However, according to Ketut, the issue had been resolved by the leaders of each institution.

"I think that's my explanation, let's not make it too long. Everything is peaceful, everything is settled," said Ketut at the Attorney General's Office building in Jakarta, as quoted from Antara, Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police at that time, Inspector General Shandi Nugroho, stated that the personnel who carried out the stalking had undergone an examination by the Profession and Security Division of the Indonesian National Police (Propam).

"From the Propam Division, we received information that the member had been examined and there were no issues," said Shandi during a press conference at the Indonesian National Police Headquarters, May 30, 2024.

As for the stalking of a Densus 88 member towards a businessman at Hotel Borobudur, Central Jakarta, it is suspected to still be related to Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. Based on the information received by Tempo, FYH is the manager of a cafe suspected to be associated with Febrie located in the Cipete area of South Jakarta.

Tempo visited the cafe on Monday, August 4. From the outside, it doesn't look too spacious, but upon entering the cafe area, the space seemed to stretch to the back and there was a staircase leading to the second floor. The cafe's ornaments were dominated by a turquoise green color and the layout of the sofas appeared luxurious.

Local traders who refused to be named admitted that the cafe was owned by a prosecutor. "Yes, I know, owned by a prosecutor, but I don't know who," he said, Monday, August 4, 2025. Two other individuals around the cafe also confirmed the same thing.
