Beritasatu, Jakarta – New details have emerged a day after a suicide bomb attack at the Medan Metropolitan Police headquarters, with police saying the wife of the lone bomber is even more radicalized than her husband.

Rabbial Muslim Nasution, who died instantly during the attack, was reportedly radicalized by his own wife, the National Police said on Thursday.

The wife, identified as Dewi, 22, had planned to launch another attack on the resort island of Bali, National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo told reporters. She was arrested soon after the police managed to identify the suicide bomber.

"We have arrested D.A., the wife of the Medan bomber. She was radicalized even earlier than her husband," Dedi said.

"Investigation by the police's cybercrime unit and the counterterrorism squad Detachment 88 showed the woman was active on several social media platforms," he said.

The woman had been communicating with a female terror convict serving time in a Medan prison. "An investigation of their social media accounts has found they were planning an attack in Bali," Dedi said.

Manhunt for bomber's mentor

Police seized documents and communication devices from the couple's home in Medan during a raid on Wednesday.

Rabbial blew himself up at the parking lot of the Medan police compound, injuring five policemen and a civilian.

North Sumatra deputy police chief Brig. General Mardiaz Khusin Dwihanto said police were also hunting down a cleric believed to be the bomber's mentor. "We know his identity and a manhunt is underway," Mardiaz said in Medan.

"We've already arrested several people. More officers are being deployed to uncover [the terror network]," he said.

Police searched two houses belonging to the cleric on Jalan Serdang in Belawan, a harbor in Medan, where the explosive device carried by the suicide bomber was allegedly assembled.

Police said they had seized explosive materials from both houses, located in a densely populated housing complex. Neighbors were asked to move away during the search for their safety.
