Ganug Nugroho Adi, Surakarta – The National Police's Densus 88 antiterror squad arrested three suspected terrorists in Sukoharjo and Sragen, Central Java, on Tuesday.

The three suspects, identified as A, IH, and AMF, are allegedly connected to terrorist network members previously arrested in West Java and East Java.

Terrorist suspect A, 25, was arrested in Gumpang subdistrict, Kartasura, Sukoharjo.

Gumpang neighborhood head Nur Alim said A was not a resident there but came from Magelang, Central Java. He made a living by selling traditional drinks and running an eatery next to his house.

Sukoharjo Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Iwan Saktiadi confirmed the arrests. "After A was arrested, we were asked to back up security because Densus 88 team was going to search the place," Iwan said.

The other two suspected terrorists identified as IH and AMF were arrested in Sragen. IH was from Karanganyar, Central Java, while AMF hailed from Tasikmalaya, West Java.

"There were arrests on [Tuesday] morning," Gemolong Police chief Adj. Comr. I Ketut Putra said Wednesday.

Central Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Rycko A. Dahniel said Densus 88 had arrested eight suspected terrorists in Sragen, Sukoharjo, Magelang, Grobogan, and Semarang.

"All of them were newcomers, not residents in the respective arrest locations," said Rycko. He called on people to be cautious of newcomers in their respective neighborhoods.
