The new province comprises Sorong Municipality as the provincial capital, the District of Sorong, the District of South Sorong, the District of Raja Ampat, the District of Tambrauw, and the District of Mamberamo.

Jayapura, Jubi – Papuan Student Alliance (AMP) in Bali island rallied to reject the G20 summit and demand the right to self-determination for Papua on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. However, they were blocked by a mass organization and the authorities until they were pulled back to the Papuan Student Dormitory.

Jayapura, Jubi – Student president of the University of Science and Technology Jayapura (USTJ) Ronny Tigi said the student protest in Jayapura City to reject the G20 summit on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, was in accordance with the rule. However, the police still dispersed the demonstration.

Makassar, Jubi – The Public Prosecutor in the alleged gross human rights violations of Bloody Paniai at the Makassar Court on Monday, November 14, 2022, demanded 10 years of imprisonment against the sole defendant in the case, Maj. Inf. (Ret.) Isak Sattu.

In the indictment, the prosecutor stated that Isak Sattu had been found guilty of committing a crime against humanity.

Makassar – The Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) says that the court hearings into the Paniai gross human rights violations in Papua, which are taking place at the Makassar District Court in South Sulawesi, are nothing more than a formality.

Jayapura, Jubi – An advance in the process towards Papua's "Peace Dialogue" with Indonesia occurred in Geneva, Switzerland as the United Liberation Movement for Papua (ULMWP), Indonesia's National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) and the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) signed the agreement to implement the humanitarian pause on November 11, 2022.

The Ministry of Home Affairs today inaugurated three new autonomous regions that formerly formed part of Papua province, raising the number of Indonesian provinces to 37.

Central Papua (Papua Tengah), Highland Papua (Papua Pegunungan), and South Papua (Papua Selatan) now join Papua and West Papua as the five provinces occupying the Indonesian half of New Guinea island.

Jakarta – Amnesty International Indonesia criticized the report from the Indonesian government delegation at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, on November 9. In the report, the human rights watchdog lamented the government's call to distinguish between acts of human rights violations and law enforcement.

Paul Gregoire – Fierce West Papuan resistance figure, Filep Karma, was found dead on Jayapura Beach on 1 November under suspicious circumstances.

The experienced diver supposedly drowned whilst surfing. He was with four Indonesians at the time, and no investigation is likely to be forthcoming.

Mirza Bagaskara, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined a number of witnesses in the alleged corruption case of the Papua Regional Budget (APBD) that ensnared Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe, on Monday, November 7, 2022. Among the ten witnesses was the Regional Secretary Ridwan Ruikutun.

A church official in Indonesia's restive Christian-majority Papua region has deplored the killing of a gold miner by an armed criminal group and called for an end to the exploitation of resources that continues to breed violence.

Jakarta (Antara) – Legal attorney for Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, Aloysius Renwarin, said that Lukas Enembe underwent an examination by a team of investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Jayapura, but was stopped early as he claims Enembe has yet to fully recovered from his illness.

Jonh Roy Purba, Jayapura – The Morning Star independence flag and the flag of the pro-independence West Papua National Committee (KNPB) was flown when the body of West Papua activist Filep Jacob Samuel Karma was taken to be buried on Wednesday November 2. The two flags were flown in the midst of the crowd of Karma's sympathisers.

Jayapura, Jubi – Free Papua activist Filep Karma passed away at 63 on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Karma's daughter Andrefina Karma confirmed that his father died in a diving accident in the waters of Base G Beach, Jayapura City.

Ben Doherty – The human rights campaigner Filep Karma – one of West Papua's most famous former political prisoners – has been found dead on a beach in Jayapura, sparking calls for a full and independent inquiry into his death.

Jakarta – Amnesty International Indonesia Executive Director Usman Hamid is urging the government to investigate the cause of Filep Karma's death. The call was made after the Papua activist was found dead on Base G Beach in Jayapura on Tuesday November 1.

Jayapura, Jubi – Rahmat Paisei, 14, one of the three children allegedly persecuted by the Indonesian Military (TNI) members has not been able to eat. Paisei's family demanded that TNI soldiers who committed the torture to be prosecuted.

Victor Mambor and Nazarudin Latif, Jayapura, Indonesia and Jakarta – Filep Karma, a prominent Papuan pro-independence activist and longtime former political prisoner of Indonesia, was found dead on a Jayapura beach Tuesday after apparently drowning during a diving trip, police said. He was 63.

Jayapura, Jubi – Jhon Paisei said that his son, Rahmat Paisei (14) and his two friends, Bastian Bate (13) and Laurents Kaung (11) were tortured using chains, wire reels, and water hoses by members of the Indonesian Military (TNI).

Zode Hilapok's death was confirmed by a relative, Christianus Dogopia, who said that since being detained, Hilapok's health had been deteriorating.
