Jakarta – Chief Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto recently attended the inauguration ceremony for his deputy Mohamad Rudy Salahuddin who had just become the acting governor for Gorontalo.

Rudy was the minister's deputy for coordination on digital economy, labor, as well as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"Thank you to Home Affairs Minister [Tito Karnavian] and Mr. President [Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo] for trusting one of our ministry's top brass as an acting governor. His appointment will help boost the region's operational knowledge, and it will also bring benefits to the ministry," Airlangga was quoted as saying in a press statement.

The ceremony also saw other government officials being inaugurated as acting governors. They were North Maluku's regional secretary Samsuddin Abdul Kadir and Banten's regional secretary Al Muktabar – both the acting governors to their respective regions. Bahtiar Baharudin, a director-general at the Home Affairs Ministry, also became the West Sulawesi acting governor. Last but not least was Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, the secretary at the national borders management agency BNPP, as the acting governor for South Sulawesi.

Later that day, Airlangga also talked to the press about Indonesia's economy. Indonesia is aiming to reach a golden era by its centennial 2045, and it also wants to escape the middle-income trap. To this end, the government vows to unlock an annual growth of between 6 and 7 percent over the next 20 years.

"We want to achieve a per capita income of $30,000 as we walk towards 2045 Golden Indonesia. ... By 2030, we should reach the $10,000 mark. But we need our economy to grow beyond 6 percent, reaching 7 or even 8 percent," Airlangga said.
