Faisal Maliki Baskoro, Jakarta – French President Emmanuel Macron extended his congratulations to Indonesia's presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, following his potential election win based on the preliminary vote count of the 2024 Presidential Election.

"I would like to congratulate you on your outstanding election results. Congratulations," expressed Macron on Friday, as quoted from Prabowo's campaign team press statement.

"C'est un grand honneur pour moi," replied Prabowo in French, translating to "This is a great honor for me."

Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for Macron's ongoing support and hoped for the continued strong relationship between Indonesia and France in the future.

"Once again, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your support, for your friendship. May we continue to maintain good relations and work together effectively. Thank you," continued Prabowo.

"Thank you very much, thank you, Mr. Prabowo," replied Macron.

The latest national vote recapitulation reveals that 78.10 percent of the 2024 presidential election results have been processed from over 820,000 TPS. Prabowo Subianto leads with 58.82 percent of the votes, equivalent to 75 million votes. Anies Muhaimin secures 24.49 percent or 31 million votes, while Ganjar Pranowo garners 16.68 percent or 21 million votes.

KPU will announce the official election results by March 20. Prabowo's running mate is Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the incumbent President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's eldest son.
