Savero Aristia Wienanto, Yudono Yanuar, Jakarta – Almas Tsaqibbirru has stirred up controversy again. After successfully leading Gibran Rakabuming Raka to advance to the presidential election with a judicial review granted by the Constitutional Court, the young man is now suing President Jokowi's eldest son for failure to fulfill his obligations as the Mayor of Solo. Almas' team of lawyers will issue a statement on Friday, February 2.

Referring to the Surakarta District Court's website, the case was registered under 25/Pdt.G/2024/PN.Skt on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Almas had previously sued the mayor for the same matter on January 22, but the judge dismissed his lawsuit registered under 2/Pdt.G.S/2024/PN.Skt.

Last year, Almas submitted a request to the Constitutional Court (MK) for a judicial review of Law No. 7 of 2017 on General Elections, regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates. The court's decision ultimately paved the way for Gibran to be the running mate of Prabowo Subianto, backed by the Indonesia Onward Coalition (KIM) in the upcoming race.

At the time, Almas claimed to be an admirer of Gibran, as the mayor managed to boost the economy of Surakarta or Solo to 6.25 percent from initially minus 1.74 percent since his term in 2022, which will last until 2025.

Almas said that at age 35, Gibran Rakabuming was able to build and develop the city of Surakarta with honesty and moral integrity, and to serve the interests of the people and the state. He could not imagine that Gibran, as a model of youth, would stumble in the election because of the age limit.
