Rr. Ari Yani Yakti Widyastuti, Jakarta – Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Tjahjo Kumolo asserted that state civil apparatus or ASN could not object to the order of transfer to the new capital Nusantara. He made the statement in response to issues that many civil servants are reluctant to move to East Kalimantan.

"ASN cannot request for a transfer to a region just because they don't want to be moved to the new capital," said Tjahjo in a statement, Tuesday, March 1.

Though the government has not issued a detailed regulation regarding the transfer of ASN, Tjahjo said when it is passed, it is mandatory.

He explained that the scenario for the transfer of ASN listed in the priority Cluster I in 2024 is being finalized by the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, Bappenas, and the Finance Ministry as a follow-up to Law No. 3 of 2022 on the state capital issued on February 15, 2022.

The government will decide on the lineup of names of civil servants from each ministry that will be moved to the new state capital, along with information on whether or not they will bring families.

With the vision of the new capital as a world city built with smart, green, beautiful, and sustainable concepts, the support of smart, tech-savvy civil servants is necessary. It is hoped that ASN will be able to adapt to the simplified business processes through the application of a government digital ecosystem.
