Human rights day: Jokowi pledges to resolve past unsolved cases

Dewi Nurita, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in the commemoration of the world human rights day held virtually by the national commission on human rights (Komnas HAM) pledged to resolve past human rights violations.

"The government never quits to resolve past human rights cases and have the results accepted by everyone and the international community," said the president during the virtual meeting on December 10.

The president then promised to fulfill people's right to great health and welfare amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, which has sparked health and economic crises.

He also pledged to take care of the problem hindering a number of regions regarding the freedom of worship and have the central and regional administrations respond quickly to the matter in a peaceful manner.

President Jokowi also made promises to uphold human rights for people with disabilities and people in Indonesia's outer regions which has been included in the 2020-2025 human rights national act plan.
