Adam Prireza, Jakarta – Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Directorate has closed streets near Constitutional Court (MK) as 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA 212) will stage a street rally today, June 26.
The roadblock using Movable Concrete Barrier (MCB) and security barrier was aimed to secure the area ahead of the court ruling on presidential election dispute that was scheduled to be delivered on Thursday, June 27.
Chief of the Law Education and Enforcement of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate Comr. Muhammad Nasir said that the blockade is on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat of northern direction. "In front of Gajah National Museum," said Nasir in a short message, Wednesday, June 26, adding that other roads still can be accessed.
Nasir outlined vehicles heading to the north from Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue can pass Jalan Budi Kemuliaan and turn right to Jalan Abdul Muis, or take Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan heading to Gambir, Central Jakarta.
A total of 1,290 traffic officers have been dispatched to monitor today's traffic and mass movement. Thus other streets are subject to be closed, depending on the situation.
The trials of the 2019 presidential election dispute in MK had been completed on last Friday, June 21. Since Monday, June 24, the justices held a meeting to decide the ruling set to be delivered on Thursday, June 27.
Previously, several groups announced they would hit the street during the justices meeting, including PA 212. The group spokesman Novel Bamukmin said today's action aimed at pushing MK justices to disqualify incumbent Jokowi-Ma'ruf.
