Antara & Nur Yasmin, Bali – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said he wants everyone to respect the due process of the law during the election dispute hearing at the Constitutional Court in Jakarta on Friday.

"We must respect the legal process," Jokowi said during a visit to the Sukawati Market in Gianyar, Bali, on Friday.

The election dispute was brought on by losing presidential ticket Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Sandiaga Uno, who claimed April's presidential election was tainted by fraud and that Jokowi and his running mate Ma'ruf Amin should be disqualified.

Jokowi said he did not want the trial to be tainted by street protests or riots. He hoped the court sessions would go on untroubled until a decision is announced on June 28.

Jokowi was in Bali on an official visit, accompanied by first lady Iriana Widodo and family. The president's full legal team represented him at the court hearing.

Prabowo and Sandiaga also skipped the court session and were represented by their legal team and members of their campaign team.

Jokowi is scheduled to open the 2019 Bali Arts Festival at the Ardha Candra Bali Arts Center tomorrow.
