Ade Ridwan Yandwiputra, Jakarta – Several civil society groups held a series of demonstrations in various locations today, June 19, 2026. There were at least five rallying points across Jakarta.
Central Jakarta Police Public Relations Chief, Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that protests were staged around the National Monument (Monas), the Parliament building, the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout (Bundaran HI), Tugu Tani, and the Ministry of Finance. A total of 4,263 joint police personnel were deployed to secure the rallies.
"The day's events kicked off at 9:00 AM with a rally by the National Council of Independent Farmers of Indonesia in the Monas area," Erlyn said in his official statement on Friday, June 19, 2026.
Simultaneous protests took place at the parliamentary complex, led by Trisakti University students, while the Association of Indonesian Economic Senate Students gathered at the HI Roundabout. "Another protest was staged by the Nusantara Student and Youth Union at Tugu Tani," Erlyn noted.
Additionally, the Nusantara Student and Youth Union also organized a mass demonstration outside the Ministry of Finance. "A total of 4,263 joint personnel from the Regional Police, Central Jakarta Police, and local sub-precincts were mobilized to secure these demonstrations across Central Jakarta," he explained.
Meanwhile, regarding traffic management, the police will implement a situational approach based on the volume of demonstrators on the ground. "Members of the public are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid traffic jams," he added.
