Ade Ridwan Yandwiputra, Jakarta – A group of people from the Muslim Students' Association (HMI) held a protest in front of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR) building in Jakarta on Friday, June 19, 2026. During the demonstration, the students presented five demands to the government.

According to Tempo's observations at the location, the protest titled "Towards National Liberation" arrived at the DPR Building at around 3:30 PM. They delivered speeches in front of the main gate of the Parliament Building on Gatot Subroto Street, Central Jakarta.

The demands they raised include:

  • Evaluating the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program and the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP) for their effectiveness, transparency, and impact on society.
  • Rejecting state budget waste and urging the government to prioritize efficient, targeted, and pro-people financial management.
  • Ensuring the welfare of honorary teachers through policies that guarantee their status, improve their welfare, and protect the rights of educators.
  • Stabilizing fuel prices to maintain people's purchasing power and prevent the increasing burden on the people's economy.
  • Upholding civilian supremacy as a fundamental principle of democracy and the rule of law that upholds the sovereignty of the people.

In addition to the HMI, several Trisakti University students are planning to hold a mass protest in front of the DPR Building today. The Minister of Foreign Presidency of Trisakti University, Arief Rizquna, explained that the demonstration is not a spontaneous action, but rather the result of consolidation and preparation carried out over the past few days.

"We have been preparing for around two days, starting from consolidation, issue inventory, to how this movement and anger accumulation can result in a movement," Arief said before the protest on Friday, June 19, 2026.
