M. Raihan Muzzaki, Jakarta – President of the Labor Party acting through the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, has conveyed 11 worker demands to President Prabowo Subianto. These demands were voiced during the Labor Day or May Day celebration held at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Said Iqbal stated that he presented these demands during a meeting with Prabowo on April 28, 2026. The meeting also discussed the implementation of the May Day action by several KSPI officials.

"After a meeting that lasted for approximately one and a half hours, KSPI decided to hold a May Day celebration with President Prabowo Subianto at Monas along with other labor unions," said Said Iqbal in a press release read by a KSPI representative on Friday.

The 11 demands of the workers conveyed by KSPI during the Labor Day celebration at Monas are as follows:

1. Ratification of the Draft Labor Law;
2. Elimination of outsourcing and rejection of low wages;
3. Protection against threats of termination of employment due to war;
4. Tax reform, including an increase in non-taxable income and the elimination of taxes on holiday allowances, old-age security, and pensions;
5. Ratification of the Asset Seizure Bill;
6. Protection of the textile and nickel industries;
7. A moratorium on the cement industry due to oversupply;
8. Ratification of ILO Convention 90;
9. A push for 10% motorcycle taxi tariffs;
10. Revision of Law Number 2 of 2024;
11. Appointment of part-time P3K teachers and employees to full-time status.

In his speech at Monas, Prabowo Subianto announced the establishment of a Task Force for Layoff Mitigation and Workers' Welfare.

Prabowo stated that the establishment of the Task Force was mandated by Presidential Decree Number 10 of 2026. "I will defend the interests of the workers; those threatened by termination of employment, we will defend and protect you," Prabowo said in his speech before the gathered labor unions.

The Chief Patron of the Gerindra Party claimed that the state will take over the responsibility of employers who are unable to meet their obligations. "If there are employers who give up, don't worry, our country is strong. Our country will take over, will defend the people of Indonesia. Don't worry," he said.

Prabowo then stated that Indonesia is currently in a stable condition regarding the food and energy sectors, while many other countries face crises. He claimed that Indonesia has successfully achieved food self-sufficiency and will soon achieve energy self-sufficiency.

The promise to establish the task force has been made by Prabowo since last year's Labor Day at Monas.
